Engineering Business Development Leader/Client Services Manager – Tampa, FL

Leads new business development for the greater Tampa area market through brand-building strategies and creates revenue generation through new client development and key client management. Responsible for implementing new marketing efforts through existing and new client bases as well as maintenance of existing client relationships. A minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience in the water/wastewater industry as well as a Florida P.E. license or the ability to obtain one within one (1) year of hire is required.

Essential Job Functions

Identify, qualify and secure business opportunities by cultivating and maintaining business relationships with current and potential clients as well as business partners. Work closely with corporate executives and senior managers to develop targeted sales strategies that convey a customized approach to all business pursuits.


  • Maintains high level of visibility at designated strategic accounts to build strong, value-based relationships with key decision makers for current and potential clients. This includes attending client functions, events, meetings etc.
  • Generates leads, scopes and proposal interest through interaction with industry professionals including new and existing clients, teaming partners, contractors and vendors
  • Participates in branding efforts through presentations, involvement in, and serving in leadership positions in various industry organizations
  • Leads, mentors and assists junior staff in marketing existing and new clients
  • Develops and maintains sales opportunities pipeline sufficient to capture annual top line growth market. Generate accurate and robust sales funnel for monthly and annual review
  • Leads marketing pursuits for high profile clients including strategic planning, coordination of marketing resources and utilization of key staff members critical to the pursuit
  • Develops and executes a comprehensive strategic plan to determine best approach based on competitive positions, prioritized influences and key differentiators to capture market share of industry targets
  • Effectively negotiates contracts that meet company financial and risk metrics
  • Performs a variety of tasks including Project Management as needed with a wide degree of creativity and latitude

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; Civil, Environmental or Chemical engineering preferred
  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience in water/wastewater industry required; to include experience with project management, planning, design, and business development
  • Florida P.E. license or ability to obtain one within one (1) year of hire
  • Multi-site or large client management experience required
  • Contract and rate negotiation experience strongly preferred
  • Active membership in local, regional, state and national professional societies preferred.
